White Birch Stables is managed by Matt and Laura Zele.
This place has a lot of history for both Matt and Laura. Many of Matt's family members have been and still are actively involved in the race horse industry. His father Mark Zele Jr. and brother Danny Zele are trainers located in Miami, Fl. Matt also has 2 other horse oriented brothers, one located in Florida and one in Georgia. Jeff is an active member of the military stationed in Georgia and has been in and out of the race horse world. Currently he has a few horses and is working towards team roping with his wife. He is also bull riding lately. Both brothers, Jeff and Mark as well as their father have have all lived at White Birch Stables at one point and now Matt is here too!
Laura grew up neighboring the barn and often visiting as a child. Smokey, now a permanent horse at White Birch Stables and owned by the Magadini family was a horse Laura rode as a child. Smokey had an injury and is now a schoolhorse for children and beginner riders. Laura and Matt plan to have him live out his days at the farm. He was once a great reiner and pony horse on the track which lead him into Leigh's hands. Leigh's daughter, Dawn had also worked with him in dressage. He is quite a talented horse and remembers it all, his injury just inhibits his skills!
Matt and Laura Zele first met at White Birch Stables riding horses in 2004. They are now married and had their 1st born, a daughter named Mackenzie Marie in August of 08.
